Journey Beyond: From Hidden Springs to Africa's Eden - Tarangire to Ngorongoro

Discover Tarangire riverbed in search of underground springs, of rare species such as eland and oryx around each shrinking lagoon.Before we game drive in Ngorongoro, the finest blend of landscapes, wildlife, people and archaeological sites in Africa, the often-called Africa’s Eden and eighth wonder of the natural world. You will have a chance to meet Maasai people and learn more about their complex and interesting culture before you head back home.

Day 1: Flight Zanzibar – Overland Tarangire National Park

After breakfast we depart to Zanzibar Airport for your domestic flight to Arusha, upon arrival you will be met by our company driver/ guide and drive to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s third largest National park and sanctuary for unusually large elephant populations. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire river, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lions, cheetahs and up to six thousand elephants, buffalos and zebras. There are over 550 bird varieties around the swamps in Tarangire which is the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world.

    • Day 2: Full Day; Game Drive to Ngorongoro Crater

    Today you set off towards the Ngorongoro Crater for a beautiful game drive. It shelters close to 30.000 animals including the Big Five. The crater teems with zebras, buffaloes, lions, wildebeest, warthogs, baboons, elephants, flamingos, ostriches, hippos, cheetahs and a small population of the rare black rhino. The beautiful colors and dancing clouds make the crater almost surreal. Because of its natural beauty the Ngorongoro Crater is chosen as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. After your picnic lunch you will return to the lodge and spend the afternoon enjoying the pool at this boutique luxury lodge.

    • Day 3: Drive – Mto wa Mbu & Drive to Arusha Town

    After breakfast, you will drive to Mtowambu town on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, for a guided village tour. In this small but very busy town where people belonging to all 120 tribes in Tanzania live together, you will have the opportunity to see the typical daily life of Tanzanians. Your walking guide who comes from that area will take you to rice and banana plantations where you will interact with the people working in their farms, you will visit a traditional beer bar/factory, you will visit a school and carvings factory where the famous “Makonde” use ebony black wood to carve different statues. Later, slowly drive to Arusha for your domestic flight to Zanzibar.
